Greek police searching for a British woman missing on the island of Ikaria have found a body.

Natalie Christopher, a 35-year-old astrophysicist, has been missing since Monday morning after she failed to return from a run.

A volunteer assisting in the search for Ms Christopher discovered the body in a ravine on the island on Wednesday, according to state television.

The identity of the body has not yet been established.

Ms Christopher, who lives in Nicosia, was on holiday at the time with her Cypriot partner, who reported her missing.

The potential route Ms Christopher is believed to have taken during her run on Monday is said to involve paths running adjacent to steep cliff edges.

Earlier on Wednesday, police deployed specialist geolocating equipment to help with the multi-agency search, involving police officers, fire fighters, the coastguard and dozens of volunteers.
