His illegal actions were recorded on video, enabling him to be identified.
The man is said to have regretted his actions, and accompanied police and environmental officials back to the site, where he dragged the fridge back up the side of a valley.
Spain’s environmental protection agency, SEPRONA, found the man’s employer had been storing old appliances on its premises illegally, Spanish media said.
The firm is also due to face a fine.
