A pedestrian is in hospital with critical injuries after being hit by a Volkswagen Beetle in Richmond Saturday morning.

At around 9 a.m. near No. 3 Road and Alderbridge Way, a pedestrian was hit while they were “not on the roadway,” according to Richmond RCMP.

They were quickly taken to hospital where they are still recovering from serious injuries.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dennis Hwang said by email that, at the time, “the debris field (was) widespread and required a large area to be cordoned off for multiple hours.”

Richmond RCMP Criminal Crash Investigation Team is now investigating with the ICARs unit.
